What to expect
The outdoor pool is kept at approximately 32°C throughout the year, with a sheltered indoor lane connected by a short water channel. The infinity edge faces southwest across Lake Brienz. On clear days, the surface catches the last light on the peaks; on misty mornings, the experience is more atmospheric than panoramic.
Pool access is included for overnight guests from 07:00 to 21:00. Children are welcome from 08:00 to 18:00, provided an adult remains within arm's reach. From 18:00 the pool becomes an adults-oriented quiet zone. There is no lifeguard, so guests must assess their own ability and supervise children at all times.
Timing your swim
Early morning is the calmest period and usually offers the clearest water reflections. Between 10:00 and 15:00, day beds and the southern deck receive the most sun, especially from May through September. The final hour is best for warm-water floating after a treatment, although the mountain air can feel sharp when you leave the pool. Robes and towels are supplied in the changing rooms.
Winter swimming is comfortable in the water but demands a little planning. Bring a hat, use the covered path to the changing room and avoid staying outside in wet swimwear. Snowfall does not automatically close the pool; high winds, lightning or maintenance may require a temporary closure. The guest team posts updates at reception.
Access, etiquette and facilities
The pool deck has non-slip stone, wide steps and a handrail. A pool lift is available with advance notice. Changing rooms include lockers, showers, hairdryers and refill stations. Please keep glass, food and active photography away from the water. Phones are welcome on the terrace only when they do not disturb other guests. A 10-minute rinse before entering protects both water quality and skin comfort.
Pool versus lake swimming
Lake Brienz is beautiful but cold, with temperatures commonly around 18–22°C in summer and much lower outside it. Choose the lake for a brisk, natural swim from an approved public access point and the resort pool for reliable warmth, accessibility and a longer soak. The lake has no resort lifeguard or changing service; ask reception about current conditions before entering.
Practical costs and pros
Pool use is included with every room. Non-resident day access is limited and, when available, costs CHF 45 per adult, including a towel and locker; booking is required. The main advantage is dependable year-round access with an extraordinary outlook. The trade-off is that the pool can feel popular at midday during school holidays. For uninterrupted quiet, book a weekday stay in November, April or early June.
Guests should remember that the pool is a relaxation facility, not a training pool. The 18-metre length supports gentle laps, but there is no dedicated swimming schedule. For vigorous exercise, we recommend the lakeside path and the small fitness room.
